All trainings and workshops can be tailored for participant job descriptions/needs.

Communication Development for Individuals who use Non-Traditional
Communication Methods

This 1 or 2 day workshop will provide participants with the information required to increase and improve communication with individuals who use non-traditional communication methods. Participants will learn the principles of augmentative-alternative communication (AAC) and how to develop AAC opportunities in the community and at home. This workshop can be tailored for participants who have beginning or intermediate knowledge of AAC.

 

WHEN IS CASE MANAGEMENT MORE THAN CASE MANAGEMENT?
Best Practices in Support Coordination

This training/worksop can be tailored to assist States or individual agencies in developing and expanding Support Coordination services that operate from a person centered model of support planning. Areas of training can include ISP development, administering the Supports Intensity Scale, providing protection and advocacy, risk vs. choice, and documentation. Instructors are currently providing Support Coordination services and have been integral in developing this service and providing training within the State of Georgia for the Department of Human Resources.

 

WHEN DOES A SERVICE BECOME A SUPPORT?
Understanding the use and implementation of the Supports Intensity Scale

This 1 day interactive training is taught by skilled AAMR Master Trainers and will provide agencies with clear and concise information on the purpose of the SIS, how to use the SIS in individual service planning and interpret results.

 

BUILDING THE INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT PLAN: FROM THE GROUND UP

This 1 or 2 day workshop will provide participants with information on how to include person centered approaches to the individual planning process. Participants will learn how to develop specific and meaningful Action Plans with measurable goals that contain motivating strategies and methodologies which support health, safety and a life well –lived.  Discussions will include how to assess risk, what is “real” choice, how to develop partnerships and identifying barriers/opportunities to support services. The instructor is currently assiting the State of Georgia in revising their Individual Support Plan and has  provided  training to all Support Coordiantion agencies on using person centered approached to planning for the past 2 years.

 

WELCOME TO MY WORLD: HOW WE CAN SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM NAVIGATE THE WORLD THEY LIVE IN………….

This 1 or 2 day workshop will provide participants with an introduction to the worls of individuals who live with autism. The presentation will include descriptions and characteristics of autism spectrum disorders and “real life” examples of how we can support individuals with autism via communication development and structuring learning/living environments. This workshop can be tailored for participants who have beginning or intermediate knowledge of Autism.
